    POSITION: DRIVER TRAINER
    POSITION FUNCTION:
    The Driver Trainer coordinates, develops, implements training programs for bus drivers ensuring that safe driving practices are in adherence to District and State transportation policies, rules and regulations. Position requires driving a bus daily.
    SALARY RANGE: $22.65 - $31.35 per hour

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    ? Conduct bus driver training including safe driving and safe working methods and procedures training program.
    ? Develop, compile and maintain a variety of bus driver records, including license and certificate expirations, medical expirations and advance training hours required for the renewal of the bus driver certificate.
    ? Monitor driver certification renewal training programs.
    ? Counsel and assist new drivers concerning student behavior management and other pupil transportation related problems and situations.
    ? Assist in the selection and the performance evaluation of bus drivers.
    ? Ride with bus drivers and evaluate new bus stops or changes in routes. Report observations of obstructions and road hazards to Transportation Manager or other agencies
    ? Recommend adjustments to assignments of drivers in order to maximize the utilization of equipment and personnel. Assist with dispatching functions and activities that involve student pick-up assignments, route alterations and updating, and revising student transportation records and files.
    ? Prepare or assist in the preparation of various management reports pertaining to student transportation.
    ? Conduct bus inspections with bus drivers and reports damage, vandalism, malfunctions and defects.
    ? Enforce and follow appropriate local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
    ? Driver Trainer drives a District route as dictated by daily absenteeism or driver shortage.
    ? Perform other duties as assigned.
    ? The Driver Trainer position is a safety-sensitive position within Weld Re-8 School District. Position requirements include: a copy of current Driving Record at time of hire, clear CBI criminal/background investigation and compliance with Drug Free/Pre-hire and Random Drug testing conducted throughout duration of assignment.
    KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
    ? Have previous experience in public school transportation, government transportation or other transportation entities.
    ? Public School Transportation Training experience preferred.
    ? Must possess or be able to acquire a valid Colorado commercial driver's license (CDL) - Class B with P2S endorsements.
    ? Must be able and committed to handling information in a confidential matter.
    ? Be insurable buy the Colorado Schools District Self Insurance Pool.
    ? Demonstrated experience driving and knowledge of Weld County area and of Colorado front range area
    ? Excellent employee communications, organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
    ? Skills to communicate effectively in front of large, diverse, groups both verbally and in writing.
    ? Experience and proficiency with computers including Google Suite products, Docs, Sheets and Slides, and Microsoft applications.
    ? Experience with routing and transportation maintenance applications.
    ? Knowledge of regulations at Federal, State and Local levels pertaining to pupil transportation.
    ? Ability to write reports, correspond and track programs.
    ? Be committed to work as a team member to benefit the School District, transportation department, staff and students and the community.
    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • Bus driver hours may vary on student instructional days per student calendar. Additional hours available at times for field trips, activity trips (sports, band, clubs), etc.
    • All employee agreements for new hire personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education. Direct deposit is a condition of employment.
    • No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re 8 buildings.
    • Selected applicant must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy, DOT physical and drug screening
    • As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours
    • of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.
